Designated by the Commission on Higher Education as a Center of Excellence for Teacher Education in Region X in 1995, La Salle University (LSU), formerly known as the Immaculate Conception College - La Salle, is located in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental.

The University traces its roots to the initiative of a Recollect priest, Fr. Constancio Arsenio, who started a parochial school in 1789. In 1929, the Jesuits took over the management of the Parish from the Recollect Fathers and named the parochial school Immaculate Conception School.

Ten years later, the school was turned over to the Columban Fathers. The Columban Sisters took care of the school right before the war broke out and continued to do so until it was turned over to the De La Salle Brothers on 17 May 1994. The school achieved University status in 2006 and was renamed La Salle University.
