A sprawling 28-hectare campus in the historic province of Cavite offering tertiary education, DLSU-D aims to be a leading institution in the integral formation of youth by offering relevant, responsive, and community-oriented academic programs, research and extension services, while promoting a keen sense of history, art and culture.

DLSU-D was established on 18 July 1977 as a private nonsectarian tertiary school named General Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC)-Cavite. In 1987, under the new Lasallian management, it became a Catholic institution with a new name, De La Salle University-Emilio Aguinaldo College (DLSU-EAC). The name DLSU-EAC was again changed to De La Salle University-Aguinaldo in 1992. Eventually, the University's name became De La Salle University-Dasmariñas upon the approval of the Securities and Exchange Commission on 20 January 1997.

DLSU-D's campus has been described as one of the most beautiful campuses in the country, with its Spanish-period-inspired motif, highlighted by four landmark structures in the Cultural Heritage Complex
